Ingredients for our Angel Food Smoothie King recipe
Strawberries

You can't have a strawberry banana smoothie without strawberries, right? The sweetness of strawberries goes perfectly with bananas and Turbinado sugar. We recommend using fresh strawberries, but you can also use frozen if that's all you have on hand.
There are numerous health benefits of strawberries. They are a good source of vitamin C, which can help strengthen the immune system. They are also a good source of dietary fiber, potassium and antioxidants. All of these nutrients work together to promote optimal health. So the next time you enjoy an Angel Food smoothie, take a moment to appreciate all the health benefits these delicious strawberries provide.

Banana

Bananas are its main ingredientsmoothie recipe because they make it nice and creamy. They also add sweetness and a bit of natural sugar. We recommend that you use ripe bananas in this recipe because they are easier to blend and give a smoother smoothie.
Even better, when your bananas are really ripe, just peel them and put them in the freezer (in a bag, of course!). This will make your smoothie even creamier!
Ripe bananas are also a good source of dietary fiber, vitamin C, potassium and antioxidants. Like strawberries, all these nutrients work together to promote optimal health. So, this smoothie is not only tasty, but also full of useful nutrients.

Skimmed milk powder

PrototypeThe Smoothie King recipe uses skim milkand we decided to use skimmed milk powder.
If you don't use dairy products or are vegan, you can use any type of milk. Just skip the skimmed milk powder and substitute itWaterwith any non-dairy milk of your choice, including soy milk, almond milk, coconut milk and even oat milk (our favorite!).
_________________
vanilla yogurt

Adding yogurt to your smoothie recipe gives it creaminess and helps bind all the ingredients together. We recommend vanilla yogurt, but you can also use strawberry or banana flavored yogurt. If you go this route, you can add a drop of pure vanilla extract.
If you don't use dairy products or are vegan, you can use any type of yogurt. Just use dairy-free vanilla yogurt—any brand or type is fine.
_________________
Raw sugar (Turbinado sugar)

The original recipe calls for turbinado sugar, but we think raw sugar works just as well. If you don't have it, you can also use regular white sugar. Your choice!
If you don't want to add sugar to your smoothie (and I don't blame you), try pitted dates, stevia, or monk fruit (I love crystallized monk fruit for just about anything you can use sugar in). Just try to avoid artificial sweeteners.
_________________
Filtered water

And finally we have water. Water is used to dilute the delicious drink and make it easier to mix. You can always add more or less water depending on how thick or thin you like your smoothie.
Start with less water and add more as needed. You can also add ice if you think the smoothie needs a little thickening (although with all the creaminess, it shouldn't be a problem, especially if you used frozen fruit).
How to customize an Angel Food Cocktail
Now that we know the simple ingredients in our imitation cocktail recipe, let's talk about how you can customize it to your liking.
If you haven't been eating a lot of refined sugar, this smoothie might be too sweet for you. Try adding a little lemon juice to soften it, or you can skip itsweetenerin its entirety. There are many healthy natural sweeteners that you can use.
For a creamier smoothie, keep the fruit frozen.
Add a handful of fresh spinach or kale for a super nutritious smoothie. The sweetness of strawberries, bananas and sugar will help mask their tastevegetablesand you can't find many healthier things on the planet than green leafy vegetables.
For a more filling smoothie, addChia seeds, hemp seeds, rolled oats or ground flax seeds. These ingredients will also add some fiber and nutrients to your smoothie.
If this smoothie is too thick (depending on the moisture level of the yogurt), you can thin it out with more water or use coconut water, coconut milk, oat milk, or almond milk.
Want more protein? You can add a scoop of protein powder or a nut butter like peanut butter, macadamia butter, or almond butter to get some of the saturated fat in your healthy smoothie and lightly nutty recipe or daily protein powder.
How to make the perfect Angel Food smoothie
Now that we know the ingredients and know how to adjust our cocktail, it's time to mix it up!
Start by adding water (or milk if you're not using skimmed milk powder) to the blender. Then add yogurt.
Then add fruit (strawberries and banana, preferably frozen).
At the end, add dry milk powder if you use it and the dressing you want.
Blend on low speed (if the blender allows) until all the ingredients are combined and you get a smooth consistency. If the smoothie is too thick, add more liquid until you get the desired consistency. This works best in a high powered blender, but any blender will do the job as there are no harsh ingredients.
Enjoy your Angel Food Smoothie right away or store it in an airtight container for up to a day in the refrigerator for later.
